Proofpoint CASB
Proofpoint
Combined score
▪ Editorial verdict
Proofpoint CASB exists as a natural extension of Proofpoint's broader people-centric information protection philosophy, applying the same risk scoring that identifies which employees are most likely to cause a data incident to cloud application activity specifically. For organisations already running Proofpoint email security, this creates a genuinely unified view of user risk across email and cloud applications that a standalone CASB vendor cannot replicate. The DLP integration is the clear strength here, benefiting directly from Proofpoint's threat intelligence and behavioural risk scoring engine.
The honest limitation is breadth. Proofpoint's CASB coverage is strongest for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace specifically, with less depth across the long tail of SaaS applications that dedicated CASB specialists like Netskope discover and monitor. There is also no SASE or SSE convergence story, since Proofpoint CASB exists specifically as an information protection extension rather than a network security platform.
The verdict: Proofpoint CASB is right for existing Proofpoint email security customers wanting unified people-centric DLP extended into cloud applications. Organisations wanting the broadest SaaS discovery catalog or SASE convergence should evaluate Netskope or Zscaler instead.
