▪ Editorial verdict
CyberArk Identity extends the company's privileged access management credibility into workforce SSO and adaptive authentication, and the genuine differentiator is context. Because CyberArk Identity shares telemetry with the broader CyberArk privileged access platform, authentication risk decisions can factor in privileged access signals that a standalone SSO vendor without that visibility simply cannot access. The IRAP assessment is a meaningful advantage for Australian government and critical infrastructure buyers, putting CyberArk Identity in a smaller group of workforce IAM platforms formally cleared for that use case. For existing CyberArk PAM customers, adding workforce identity from the same vendor reduces the number of separate identity security relationships to manage.
The honest limitation is scope outside the CyberArk ecosystem. The application integration catalog is narrower than Okta's market-leading breadth, governance and certification capability is secondary to CyberArk's core PAM strength, and the platform sits as a Challenger rather than Leader in Gartner's Access Management Magic Quadrant.
The verdict: CyberArk Identity is right for existing CyberArk PAM customers wanting workforce SSO from the same vendor, particularly Australian government organisations needing IRAP assessment. Organisations without existing CyberArk investment should evaluate Okta or Microsoft Entra ID instead.
